Abstract
We have carried out the first observation of spiral-spin antiferromagnetic domains by means of polarized neutron diffraction topography of a single crystal of Tb. The antiferromagnetic (AF) phase can be reached by cooling the sample through the NĂ©el temperature TNor by warming it from below the Curie temperature TC. Markedly different domain structures are observed for the two cases. The effects of repeated thermal cycling and induced strain have been studied for the two kinds of domain structures.
