Abstract
The development of modern resuscitation techniques, systems, and means of delivery in less than one decade would have been impossible without the variable backgrounds, enthusiasm, conviction, and mutual inspiration of several clinician-researchers and nonphysicians. William Osier said, “In science the credit goes to the man who convinces the world, not to the man to whom the idea first occurs.” Trying to give an unbiased account of a breakthrough is often futile, as each person involved in a new development sees things from his own viewpoint. Often multiple factors are behind individuals’ interests, opportunities, efforts, and contributions.
