2013, Cell CalciumCitation Excerpt :This effect has previously been shown for high doses of dexamethasone [3] in hypothalamic neurons. Activation of the Ca2+ pump by another endogenous compound, vitamin B12, also induced a reduction of the basal [Ca2+]c [23], suggesting that calcium reducing effect by natural compounds can have physiological relevance. Importantly, in agreement with previously published reports [24], in our experiments both glucocorticoids had no effects on another calcium pump – SERCA.
