Pharmacologic Treatment of Intractable Epilepsy in Children: A Syndrome-Based Approach
2011, Seminars in Pediatric NeurologyCitation Excerpt :The vast majority of children with ESES have comorbid epilepsy, and treatment with AEDs is commonplace. Several small uncontrolled case series report favorable clinical or electroencephalographic responses to diazepam,71,72 CLB,73 VPA,74-76 ethosuximide (ESX),74,76,77 and LEV.73,78-80 Conversely, CBZ seems to impair neuropsychological performance and exacerbate spike frequency on an EEG.74,81
