Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:

To determine the effects of simultaneous bilateral training for improving arm function after stroke compared with:
(1) usual care;
(2) other specific upper limb interventions or programmes;
(3) placebo or no intervention.

Questions to be answered

(1) Is simultaneous bilateral training more effective at improving arm function than usual care, in patients with upper limb impairment after stroke?
(2) Is simultaneous bilateral training more effective at improving arm function than other specific upper limb interventions or programmes, in patients with upper limb impairment after stroke?
(3) Is simultaneous bilateral training more effective at improving arm function than placebo or no intervention in patients with upper limb impairment after stroke?
