Fabrication of Sorption-Filtering Nonwoven Material from Ultrafine Polyvinyl Alcohol Carbonized Fibres by Electrospinning

  • Published:
Fibre Chemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

Highly effective sorption-filtering nonwoven material made of ultrafine PVA fibres was manufactured by electrospinning. It was shown that impregnation of chromium nitrate in PVA fibre followed by thermal oxidation and high-temperature pyrolysis of the material increases the efficiency of the sorption-filtering material. A comparative study of the initial and carbonized fibrous PVA material by scanning electron microscopy demonstrated the presence of a developed internal pore structure in the carbonized material.
