Essential facts

According to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the UK has one of the worst child mortality rates in western Europe, with more than 2,000 children and young people dying in 2012. In addition, it is estimated that about 50,000 children and young people in the UK have a life-limiting condition that may need palliative care.
