Taiwan belongs to a frequently seismic zone and suffered many tragical earthquake incidents and caused many property damage all around this island. Taiwan government has implemented the Taiwan Residential Earthquake Scheme in 2001 after the severe 921 Chi Chi Earthquake. Taiwan residential earthquake insurance programme implemented in a very limit period and there were also no significant and disastrous earthquakes occurred during this period. Therefore the adequateness of the residential earthquake insurance scheme, the claim system and the certified assessor mobilization were not verified by the actual earthquake experience. This case study analyzed the long term foreign earthquake insurance claim and examination systems and compared with Taiwan residential earthquake insurance claim system and wish to provide advice and improving direction of Taiwan Residential Earthquake Scheme.
