Abstract

On the basis of extensive field material collected in 2018 by sociological approach in several regions of Western Siberia and the Southern Urals according to the authors’ program of regional monitoring of extremist sentiments and manifestations in the youth community, the main sources of information relevant to the youth segment of contemporary Russian society are considered, virtual social networks are rated, and their daily attendance rate is evaluated. In addition, the level of extremist sentiments and manifestations in the youth community is measured through a system of indicators developed by the authors in 2015, as well as the degree of consistency of extremist views is estimated by calculating correlation coefficients and compiling a correlation matrix based on the obtained results. The study has shown a growing trend of negative attitude to the Russian Orthodox Church and Christianity in general, which may be due to serious sympathies of some respondents to Slavic paganism and Satanism ideas.
