Coastal erosion is a natural disaster which is becoming a major concern among the coastal community in the world that destructs the houses and properties at the affected areas. The affected coastal communities are always supported by governments with appropriate strategies and effective measures to reduce the risk of coastal erosion. Regardless of the governments‟ aid, the post-disaster recovery can be a financial burdening to the coastal community as it is costly. Therefore, this study aims to propose a National Plan of Coastal Erosion Takaful Scheme for the coastal community in Malaysia. In order to further assess the proposition, data were collected from focus group discussions involving Central Bank of Malaysia, takaful operators and academicians. The findings showed the National Plan of Coastal Erosion Scheme successfully proposed. Through the implementation of this scheme, the welfare of coastal communities can be maximised by minimising their financial burden a rising due to coastal erosion problems.
