Thaumasia abrahami Mello-Leitao 1948

Description

Thaumasia abrahami Mello-Leitão, 1948

Figs 3, 14, 80–87

Thaumasia abrahami Mello-Leitão, 1948: 152, fig. 1, female holotype from Yawakuri river, Upper Demerara-Berbice Guyana [05°18’N, 58°22’W], July 1919, A. A. Abraham leg., deposited in BMNH (examined).

Note. The match between males and females was made after the examination of the female holotype, since many males and females were found together in the same vial in some Brazilian collections.

Diagnosis. The females of T. abrahami resemble those of T. onca sp. nov. (Fig. 107) and T. hirsutochela sp. nov. (Fig. 107) in the general shape of the middle field (Fig. 80), but can be distinguished by “hood-like” shape of the middle field (Fig. 80), by the conspicuous hood (Fig. 80) and by the shape and the projected pores on the head of spermathecae (Figs 81, 82). The males resemble those of T. caxiuana sp. nov. in the shape of the apex of the median apophysis (Fig. 89), but can be distinguished by the slightly longer median apophysis (Fig. 84) and by the longer and triangular shape of the ectal branch of RTA (Figs 85–87).
