Coluber anostomosatus Daudin 1803

Description

Coluber anostomosatus Daudin, 1803

Coluber anostomosatus Daudin, 1803: 140; based on Russell (1796: 38, pl. 33, “Neeli Koea”). A replacement name for Hydrus piscator Schneider, 1799.

Status. A nominal taxon synonym of H. piscator Schneider, 1799, now Xenochrophis piscator. Synonymized with H. piscator by Merrem (1820: 122); synonymized with Tropidonotus quincunciatus by Schlegel (1837: 309).

Comments. Daudin (p. 140: footnote) included H. piscator Schneider in the synonymy of his Coluber anostomosatus, which should be considered a replacement name of H. piscator Schneider, 1799.
