Leucopis ballestrerii Rondani, 1875

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875a: 263 (key), 267 (description).

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype (dissected) (MZUF: Box 35): Leucopis Mgn / ballestrerii Rnd. / 1821 / Lectotypus Leucopis ? (Leucopomyia) ballestrerii Rond., Ex. 20, det. G. PARALECTOTYPE EXAMINED: 1 ♀ (MZUF: Box 35): Leucopis Mgn / ballestrerii Rnd. / 1821 / Syntypus Leucopis ? (Leucopomyia) ballestrerii Rond., Ex. 21, det. G. Morge, Ex. 21 / Paralectotypus ♀ Leucopomyia ballestrerii (Rondani, 1874 [sic !]), A. Raspi det. / Leucopomyia silesiaca (Egger, 1862), A. Raspi det.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species (Tanasijtshuk 1984: 226, Nartshuk et al. 1995: 7); junior synonym of Leucopomyia silesiaca (Egger, 1862) (Raspi & Benelli 2016: 214).

REMARKS: Rondani first named (1874c: 132) and then described Leucopis ballestrerii (1875a: 267) from more than one specimen: “ Exemplaria aliqua inveni inter Pemphigos cornicularios Pass. gallas …, a March. Ballestrero panormitano mihi transmissa [I found some specimens in gals of Pemphigos corniculario Pass. …, received from Marq. Ballestrero from Palermo]”. Raspi & Benelli (2016: 214) designated a lectotype (♀) and paralectotype (♀).
