Parnisini Distant 1905

Description

Tribe Parnisini Distant, 1905c

Parnisinaria Distant 1905c: 203.

Remarks.—Genera of the Parnisini can be distinguished by their eyes not distinctly projecting beyond the anterior angles of the pronotum, the more or less subquadrate pronotum, hyaline wings, and the abdomen being shorter than the length between the anterior postclypeus and posterior cruciform elevation (Distant 1905c; Moulds 2005). The relatively few examples included in the genetic study combined with the distribution in the Afrotropics, Madagascar, Neotropics and Palearctic regions suggests that this tribe may be an unnatural grouping of genera as was the Taphurini (Marshall et al. 2018).
