Description

D. semipiceus (Matthews, 1888: 99)

(Choleva); Portevin, 1902: 513 comb., 1903a: 159 (no new data); Jeannel, 1936: 154 (assignment to group); Salgado, 2006: 101; Peck & Cook, 2017: 97. No information about types in original description;

? Syntype (s) (sex and number of specimens not given in Jeannel, 1936; a female [not seen], in Peck & Cook, 2017) in BMNH.

Type locality: San Geronimo, 3000 ft., [Baja Verapaz Department], Guatemala.

Distribution: Guatemala: Baja Verapaz and Río San Juan Departments.

= D. magnicornis Portevin, 1907: 70; Hatch, 1928: 163 syn. (of “ D. ” exiguus Kirsch [1871], now in Paulipalpina, not stated as taxonomic change); syn. moved to D. semipiceus by Jeannel, 1936: 154 (not stated as taxonomic change, and not referring to Hatch’s change, probably not aware of it). Holotype male [a single specimen in original description, assumed as holotype; depository not given], lost (Jeannel, 1936: 154, footnote). Type locality: “ Guatemala ”.
