Description
Cynosurus cristatus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 72. 1753.

Lectotype (Cope in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 41. 1993): Herb. Linn. No. 91.1 (LINN).
Generitype of Cynosurus Linnaeus.
Current name: Cynosurus cristatus L. (Poaceae).
Note: Although Kerguélen (in Lejeunia, n.s., 75: 124. 1975) stated "Type: …LINN”, this is not accepted as a valid typification under Art. 7.11 (see justification by Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 240. 2000).
