Lectotype (designated here by Reveal): [icon] "Filici-folia s. Polypodium tenuifolium minus Virginianum" in Plukenet, Phytographia: t. 89, f. 9. 1691; Almag. Bot.: 153. 1696. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 96: 39 (BM-SL).
Current name: Polypodium polypodioides (L.) Watts var. michauxiana Weath. (Polypodiaceae).
