Lamium galeobdolon Linnaeus, Amoenitates Academicae 4: 485. 1759, nom. inval.

Current name: Lamiastrum galeobdolon (L.) Ehrend. & Polatschek (Lamiaceae).
Note: As noted by Stearn (in Geck & Pressler, Festschr. Claus Nissen: 631. 1974), Lamium galeobdolon is a typographical error, the generic name Galeopsis having been misplaced, with the result that Galeopsis galeobdolon L. (1753) appeared as Lamium galeobdolon. The latter name did not appear in Sp. Pl., ed. 2 (1763), nor in later Linnaean works. Lamium galeobdolon is therefore not a validly published Linnaean name.
