Neotype (Turland in Jarvis & Turland in Taxon 47: 366. 1998): Italy. Calabria, "ca. 40km N of Catanzaro, road from Taverna Villaggio Mancuso to Butoro", 16 Jun 1979, Davis, Sutton & Sutton sub Davis 65251 (BM-000576303).
Generitype of Seriola Linnaeus (vide Steudel, Nom., ed. 2, 2: 568. 1841).
Current name: Hypochaeris laevigata (L.) Ces. & al. (Asteraceae).
