Description

Pinguicula alpina Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 17. 1753.

"Habitat in Alpibus Lapponicis." RCN: 142.

Lectotype (Blanca & Jarvis in Folia Geobot. 34: 351. 1999): [icon] " Pinguicula nectario conico petalo breviore " in Linnaeus, Fl. Lapponica: 11, t. 12, f. 3. 1737 (see p. 85).

Current name: Pinguicula alpina L. (Lentibulariaceae).

Note: Casper (in Biblioth. Bot. 127/128: 122. 1966) indicated 33.2 (LINN, though cited as if at K) as the holotype, but the annotations on the sheet are not by Linnaeus and it cannot be original material for the name. Blanca & Jarvis’ type choice is accepted here; the type illustration is reproduced (Abb. 1, f. 5) by Casper (l.c.: 6. 1966).
