Lectotype (Schrire in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 470. 1997): [icon] " Phaseolus Africanus hirsutus bituminosus, siliquis bullatis, flore flavo " in Hermann, Hort. Lugd.-Bat. Cat.: 492, 493. 1687. - Epitype (Schrire in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 470. 1997): South Africa. Stellenbosch, Jonkershoek, 4 August 1917, S. Garside 1035 (K; iso-STE?).
Current name: Bolusafra bituminosa (L.) Kuntze (Fabaceae: Faboideae).
