Original material: Herb. Linn. No. 395.9 (S); Herb. Linn. No. 1153.9 (LINN); Herb. Clifford: 453, Bryonia 4 (BM); [icon] in Hermann, Parad. Bat.: 107, 108. 1698.
Current name: Kedrostis africana (L.) Cogn. (Cucurbitaceae).
Note: Meeuse (in Bothalia 8: 33. 1962) interpreted the name via a Hermann illustration, which Newton & Njoroge (in Eggli, Ill. Handb. Succ. Pl., Dicots: 86. 2002) indicated as the type, but this choice was published after 1 Jan 2001 and so the omission of the phrase "designated here" or an equivalent (Art. 7.11) means that it is not effective.
