Description

Bombax religiosum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 512. 1753.

"Habitat in India." RCN: 5007.

Replaced synonym of: Bombax gossypium L. (1767), nom. illeg.

Lectotype (Nicolson in Taxon 28: 368. 1979): Herb. Hermann 3: 18, No. 222 (BM-000594660).

Current name: Cochlospermum religiosum (L.) Alston (Cochlospermaceae).

Note: Specific epithet spelled “religiosa” in the protologue.
