Original material: [icon] in Rheede, Hort. Malab. 1: 35, t. 21. 1678.
Generitype of Nyctanthes Linnaeus (vide Hitchcock in Amer. J. Bot. 10: 514. 1923).
Current name: Nyctanthes arbor - tristis L. (Oleaceae).
Note: Moldenke & Moldenke (in Dassanayake & Fosberg, Revised Handb. Fl. Ceylon 4: 179. 1993) indicated "Grimm 116" (LINN) as type, but no such specimen (which in any case seems most unlikely to be an original element) has been traced.
