Description
Nardus stricta Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 53. 1753.
"Habitat in Europae asperis, sterilibus, duris." RCN: 444.
Lectotype (Cope in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 69. 1993): Herb. Linn. No. 73.5 (LINN).
Generitype of Nardus Linnaeus (vide Hitchcock, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 119. 1929).
Current name: Nardus stricta L. (Poaceae).
Note: Although Kerguélen (in Lejeunia, n.s., 75: 215. 1975) indicated unspecified material in LINN as type, this is not accepted as an effective typification (Art. 7.11). See Cafferty & al. (in Taxon 49: 240. 2000) for a detailed explanation.
