Description

Melissa pulegioides Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 593. 1753.

"Habitat in Virginia, Canada." RCN: 170.

Basionym of: Cunila pulegioides (L.) L. (1762).

Lectotype (Irving in Sida 8: 288. 1980): Clayton 514 (BM-000576253).

Current name: Hedeoma pulegioides (L.) Pers. (Lamiaceae).

Note: Epling (in J. Bot. 67: 9. 1929) noted Herb. Linn. No. 38.3 (LINN), a Kalm specimen, as standard, but this is not equivalent to a type statement (see Jarvis & al. in Taxon 50: 508. 2001).
