Veronica serpyllifolia Linnaeus 1753

  • 1. Department of Botany, Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London, UK

Description

Veronica serpyllifolia Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 12. 1753.

"Habitat in Europa & America septentrionali ad vias, agros." RCN: 80.

Lectotype (Cramer in Dassanayake & Fosberg, Revised Handb. Fl. Ceylon 3: 437. 1981): Herb. Linn. No. 26.30 (LINN).

Current name: Veronica serpyllifolia L. (Scrophulariaceae).

Note: Pennell (in Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia Monogr. 1: 335. 1935) designated what he felt to be the more glabrous of the specimens in LINN as type. As it is difficult to be sure which collection was intended, Cramer’s choice (which has been followed by later authors) is accepted here.
