Description

This article aims to study the relationship between socioeconomic inequalities and incidences of COVID-19 cases in Ceará. The strategy used was to evaluate the association between the Human Development Index (IDH-M) and the incidence of COVID-19 in Ceará in the months of March, April and June 2020. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used in order to know the degree of relation with the incidence of OVID-19 cases. The data were extracted from the Atlas of Human Development in Brazil and the IntregaSUS platform. In general, in the last three months, a significant direct correlation was found between the HDI-M and the incidence rates of COVID-19. Finally, these results indicated that adequate socioeconomic conditions of the population can be useful to reduce the incidence of COVID-19, reasons why investments in public services are necessary, especially in the aspect that include the HDI-M.
