Abstract	In the past eight years, the Division of Building Research has installed many thermocouples in northern areas to determine ground temperatures in connection with the study of permafrost. At various times and for various reasons, doubts have arisen to the performance of certain components in the system, and the accuracy of the results. This report contains some comments and discussion of items which are elementary.
