Abstract

Between May 1974 and May 1975. ten patients with intertrochanteric or femoral neck fractures were treated by siding compression hip screw fixation. The time allowed to weight bearing on the affected extremity was within 10 days in 5 patients, In the other 5 patients, who had other accompanying fractures and who had passed more than 3 weeks from the time of injury, weight bearing on the affected side was permitted from 6 to 8 weeks of operation. The average time for fracture union in this series was about 4 months. No delayed unions were observed in the 8 patients who were followed more than 6 months.
