초록

이 연구의 목적은 Bowlby(1969, 1973)의 애착이론, Berry(1997)의 문화적응이론, Lazarus와 Folkman (1984)의 스트레스 대처이론에 기초하여 수립된 다문화가정 아동의 심리사회적 적응 예측모형을 제시하여 모형의 타당성을 검증하고, 모형에서 가정하고 있는 모애착과 심리사회적 적응의 관계에서 스트레스와 부정적 대처기제의 중재효과를 밝히는 것이었다. 연구의 대상은 한국인 아버지와 외국인 출신 어머니로 이루어진 가정의 자녀로서, 초등학교 3학년~6학년인 아동 269명이었다. 자료 수집을 위해 심리사회적 적응, 애착, 문화적응 스트레스, 부정적 대처기제의 구조화된 자기보고식 설문지를 사용하였다. 이 연구의 주요 연구 결과는 첫째, 다문화가정 아동의 모애착, 문화적응 스트레스, 부정적 대처기제가 심리사회적 적응에 미치는 영향에 대한 이론적 모형을 검증한 결과, 다문화가정 아동의 심리사회적 적응 예측모형은 자료에 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 다문화가정의 아동은 모애착이 높을수록 심리사회적 적응을 잘 하고, 문화적응 스트레스와 부정적 대처기제가 심리사회적 적응에 대하여 갖는 효과를 통제한 후에도 모애착이 높을수록 심리사회적 적응을 잘 하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다문화가정의 아동은 모애착이 높을수록 문화적응 스트레스가 낮았고, 모애착은 문화적응 스트레스를 매개하여 심리사회적 적응에 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 다문화가정의 아동은 모애착이 높을수록 부정적 대처기제를 적게 사용하였고, 모애착은 대처기제를 매개하여 심리사회적 적응에 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 다문화가정의 아동은 부정적 대처기제를 많이 사용하거나 적게 사용하는 것과는 상관없이 문화적응 스트레스가 심하면 심리사회적 적응에 어려움을 겪고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.
