Radiologic evaluation of the Krukenberg tumor: review of 7 cases

    Abstract

    Radiologic and clinical findings of the 7 patients with Krukenberg tumor, of whom 5 were proved to beKrukenberg tumor by histopathology and 2 thought by clinical and radiologic aspects, were reviewedretrospectively. The results are as follows: 1. Of all seven cases, in 5, stomach is the primary site of thetumor, in 1, rectum is so, in the rest, primary ovarian Krukenberg tumor is considered. 2. Ultrasonographicfindings 1) Echopattern of the Krukenberg tumor has been reported as almost nearly total solid pattern on previousstudy, on our cases, reveals alomost mixed echogenic, predominantly solid pattern. 2) In amount of the cysticcomponent, more half(6/11 masses) containe cystic component more than 20%. 3. All CT scans show lower level softtissue denstiy mass with multiple round cystic components on precontrast scan and strong contrast enhancement insolid portion.
