본 연구에서는 문화예술 기반 유아통일교육 프로그램이 유아의 민주시민의식과 정서지능에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 2019년 10월부터 12월까지 경기도 소재 두 유치원의 만 5세 유아 38명(실험집단 19명, 비교집단 19명)을 대상으로 13차시 프로그램을 적용한 후 집단 간 차이를 알아보고자 위해 독립표본 t 검증과 공변량분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 실험집단은 문화예술 기반 유아통일교육 프로그램을 실시하였으며, 비교집단은 이야기나누기 중심 유아통일교육 프로그램을 실시하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 민주시민의식 총점과 하위요소인 타인존중, 책임의식, 협동의식에 있어 실험집단의 점수가 유의미한 향상이 있었으나, 준법정신에서는 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 정서지능의 총점과 정서지능의 하위요소인 자기인식, 자기조절, 타인조절에 있어 실험집단의 점수가 유의미한 향상이 있었으나, 타인인식에는 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이는 문화예술 기반 유아통일교육 프로그램이 유아의 민주시민 의식과 정서지능에 교육적 효과가 있음을 나타낸다. 따라서 본 연구는 문화예술을 활용한 유아통일교육의 의의가 있음을 보여줌으로써 유아기에도 통일교육이 필요함을 지지하는 연구로서 그 의의가 있다.

This study investigates the effects of an early childhood unification education program based on culture and arts on young children’s democratic citizenship and emotional intelligence. From October to December 2019, 38 five-year-old children (19 in the experimental group and 19 in the comparative group) from two kindergartens in Gyeonggi-do participated in the 13th class program, and an independent sample t-test and analysis of covariance were conducted to determine between-group differences. The experimental group participated in an early childhood unification education program based on culture and arts, and the comparative group participated in an early childhood unification education program focusing on talking. The results of this study were as follows. First, the experimental group’s total score of democratic citizenship and its sub-factors, including respect for others, responsibility, and cooperation, significantly improved, but the spirit of compliance showed no significant difference. Second, the experimental group’s total score of emotional intelligence and its subfactors, including self-perception, self-regulation, and control of others, showed a significant improvement,; however, but the perception of others showed no significant difference. This indicates that an early childhood unification education program based on culture and arts has an educational effect on young children’s democratic citizenship and emotional intelligence. Therefore, this study hold significance as it supports the need for early childhood unification education, by showing the significance of early childhood unification education using culture and arts.
