박범신의 『나마스테』는 2005년에 발간한 작품이다. 이 시기는 이주노동자 문제가 사회문제로 떠오를 때였다. 『나마스테』는 순정적이고 이상적인 사랑 이야기에 ‘이주노동자’라는 지극히 현실적이고 사회적인 이야기를 융합시켰다. 그러므로 소설은 현실적이면서도 비현실적인 양면성을 지닌다. 또한, 『나마스테』는 한국 이주노동자의 현실적 문제를 고발함으로써 독자들에게 이주노동자들의 고통을 인식할 수 있도록 했다는 점에서 주목받고 있다. 대부분 선행 연구들이 다문화주의의 배타적 민족의식을 바탕으로 이루어졌지만, 필자가 보기에 이 작품의 중심 서사는 네팔인 이주노동자와 한국인 여성 사이의 ‘애정서사’로 보이는데, 선행 논문에서는 그 지점을 놓치고 있다. 이에 본 연구 본론 2장에서 네팔인 이주노동자 ‘카밀-사비나’ 간의 애정서사, 그리고 이주노동자(카밀)와 한국인 여성(신우)의 애정서사를 자세히 살펴보고자 한다. 이러한 애정서사를 통해 이주노동자들의 코리안 드림의 허구성과 이주노동자들의 코리안 드림에 대한 이해를 분석했다. 이어서 본 연구의 본론 3장에서 남녀의 애정관계 즉 사랑의 삼각관계로 출발하여 『나마스테』에서 나타나는 이주노동자 형상의 질적 변화를 살펴보고자 한다. 사회의 발전을 위한 적극적인 노력은 한 나라가 진보할 수 있는 원동력이 된다는 사실을 부인할 수 없다. 하지만 사람과 사람 간의 차이점과 갈등은 존재하기 마련이다. 이런 차이점이나 갈등은 완전히 제거할 수 없다. 외국인 노동자들이 ‘코리안 드림’을 꿈꾸며 한국에 왔다. 이들의 인권과 삶의 질을 보장해야 한국 사회는 국제사회의 일원으로서의 역할을 다 할 수 있을 것이다.

Bum-shin Park"s Namaste was published in 2005. This was when the migrant workers problem emerged as a social problem. “Namaste fused a very realistic and social story called "Migrant Worker" into a pure and ideal love story. Thus, this novel is both realistic and unrealistic. In addition, “Namaste is attracting attention because it allowed readers to recognize the suffering of migrant workers by accusing the real problem of Korean migrant workers. Although most of the previous studies were based on the exclusive national consciousness of multiculturalism, the central narrative of this work seems to me to be the "affection narrative" between Nepalese migrant workers and Korean women, which is missing in the preceding article. In the second chapter of this study, we will look closely at the affectionate narrative of the Nepalese migrant worker "Camille - Savina" and the affectionate narrative of migrant workers (Camille) and Korean women (Shin Woo). Through these affection narratives, the fictitious nature of the Korean dreams of migrant workers and Korean people "s understanding of the Korean dream of migrant workers were analyzed. In the third chapter of this study, we will look at the qualitative changes in the shape of migrant workers in Namaste, starting from the triangle relationship between love and man. It can not be denied that a positive effort for the development of society is a driving force for a country to progress. But there are differences and conflicts between people and people. These differences or conflicts can not be eliminated completely. Foreign workers came to Korea dreaming of "Korean Dream". We need to guarantee their human rights and quality of life so that Korean society can play a role as a member of the international society.
