본 논문의 목적은 코로나19 팬데믹으로 가속화한 ‘뉴노멀’ 시대의 특성을 살펴 이에 대처할 성경 중심의 교회론을 제시하는 데 있다. 이미 다가왔지만 아직 받아들일 수 없는 정황을 ‘뉴노멀’이라고 한다. 코로나19 바이러스가 지구 전체에 만연하지만 우리는 아직 그 바이러스와 동행하는 방법을 알지 못한다. 팬데믹으로 세계 교회가 붕괴하지만 그 대비를 하지 못하고 있다. 코로나19 바이러스는 지구 공동체 존립을 위해 필수 요소가 되고 있다. 퇴치가 아닌 공존해야 할 삶의 요소가 되었다. 이러한 불가피성은 4차 산업혁명, 디지털 전환 시대의 중요한 생존 조건이 되었다. 이제까지 경험하지 못한 첨단 디지털 범용기술은 코로나19 이후 전개될 교회론에도 지대한 영향을 미치고 있다. 뉴노멀 시대가 요구하는 것은 새로운 기준이며 이는 교회론 혁신과 직결하는 문제다.
디지털 대전환으로 교회에 대한 통념이 근본부터 흔들리는 상황이다. 그런데 이는 교회의 유일한 표지인 절대 진리 성경의 권위를 다시 절실히 요청하게 한다. 코로나19 대재앙처럼 유럽 교회의 대격변 현장에서 교회론 정립을 고심했던 대표적 신학자가 칼 바르트다. 그는 두 번의 세계대전 한복판에서 교회를 위한 신학을 구상했다. 전통 신학의 한계를 극복하고자 ‘기독론 중심의 교회론’을 정립하여 참화(慘禍)로 붕괴된 교회를 위한 성경적 교회론을 정립하고자 했다. 하지만 대장정같은 그의 교회론은 한계를 넘어 치명적 결함도 보인다. 그래서 바르트 교회론에 대한 비판적 이해와 함께 대안 모색이 절실하다. 이에 성경 구조 자체의 논리적 통일성에 근거한 교회론과 신론 중심의 교회론을 대안으로 제시한다.
The purpose of this paper is to, first of all, analyze the characteristics of the ‘new normal’ era in which the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated. Next, it is to introduce a Bible-centered Ecclesiology suitable for ‘New Normal.’ The new normal era is with the COVID-19 pandemic, and It’s bringing about the fourth industrial revolution faster and speeding up the digital transformation. Many churches around the world have disappeared due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More seriously problematic, they are not prepared to prevent the deadly threat of the new normal era brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, it is necessary to establish a new ecclesiology to overcome New Normal’ upheaval. With digital transformation, the upcoming attacks of New Normal threaten the basis of the church. This dire situation reminds us that the essence of the church community must be found in the Word of God, the Bible. Karl Barth was a theologian who struggled to establish a new ecclesiology in Europe, where war broke out more than 80 years ago. He established Christology-centered ecclesiology and contributed greatly to the restoration of the European church, which was engulfed in pain and despair after World War II. However, despite his great efforts, his ecclesiology has limitations and weaknesses both biblically and theologically. For this reason, along with criticism of Barth’s ecclesiology, alternatives are also urgently needed. For this reason, along with criticism of Bart’s church theory, alternatives are also urgently needed. In this regard, I would like to introduce the logical unity contained in the Bible structure itself, and through this, ecclesiology which depends on the Bible’s own structure and God-oriented ecclesiology are presented as alternatives.
