Abstract
The problem of computing the stress fields around a polysynthetic twin near the surface under the action of a lumped or distributed load on the boundary of an elastic half-space is solved without using the thin twin approximation. It is found that the action of external stresses leads to the stress redistribution such that the stress localization is observed not only in the region of the external load action but also far from the vertices of the twins of the polysynthetic twin.
