Asynchronous Messaging for OSGi

Arne Koschel, Irina Astrova, Marc Schaaf, Volker Ahlers, Stella Gatziu Grivas, Ahto Kalja

Abstract

OSGi is a popular Java-based platform, which has its roots in the area of embedded systems. However, nowadays it is used more and more in enterprise systems. To fit this new application area, OSGi has recently been extended with the Remote Services specification. This specification enables distribution, which OSGi was previously lacking. However, the specification provides means for synchronous communication only and leaves out asynchronous communication. As an attempt to fill a gap in this field, we propose, implement and evaluate an approach for the integration of asynchronous messaging into OSGi.

Computer-aided OSPF Network Design Tool

Pavel Kriz, Filip Maly

Abstract

This article deals with an experimental version of the software used to visualize the network, provide the possibility to simulate topological and configuration changes, analyze and redesign the network. This tool was successfully deployed in the HKFree community wireless network, consisting of a large number of routers that use the OSPF routing protocol. Its primary purpose is to assist the network administrators in solving problems, creating and maintaining documentation and designing future changes.

Cloud Computing & Multi-Agent Systems: A New Promising Approach for Distributed Data Mining

Benyoucef Othmane, Rahal Sidi Ahmed Hebri

Abstract

The distributed data mining (DDM) become one of the major research topics in information systems over the few past years, after the growth of the networks connectivity, and the data volume as well. At the same time the cloud computing made its appearance and proving that it's the future of: the modern computerization and the new promising solution for resource distribution. The last two points fits the requirements of this new technology to be adapted for the resolution of the DDM problems. In this paper we will present our new approach for the distributed data mining with using of the technologies of the multi-agent systems and the cloud computing. We propose an agent based system that work under a cloud service (SaaS) architecture as a modular, extensible, easy to develop and use DDM system.

Model of Load Balancing and Scheduling in Cloud Computing

Gytis Vilutis, Linas Daugirdas, Rimantas Kavaliunas, Kristina Šutiene, Martynas Vaidelys

Abstract

While implementing Cloud based platforms it is complicated to determine the adequate quantity of resources in order to satisfy variable workload with peaks. Some projects are lost because of under provisioning of Cloud resources, as well as costly resources are wasted during nonpeak periods. It is known that not all projects must be processed on time, i.e. some of them may be postponed for a certain time. Within this context, it is presumed that postponement’s opportunity can reduce the probability of projects not to be executed, at the same time to determine the lower quantity of own resources by taking into account minimal costs. Such strategy of workload balancing and projects scheduling is validated by the experiment.

An Approach towards Balanced Energy Consumption in Hierarchical Cluster-based Wireless Sensor Networks

Plamen Z. Zahariev, Georgi V. Hristov, Ivanka D. Tsvetkova

Abstract

In this paper we investigate the mechanisms for organization of the clusters in wireless sensor networks (WSN). After the short introduction to these systems we present the communication architecture and the energy dissipation model, which are used for the hierarchical cluster-based WSN. In the third section of the paper we analyze the current widely used process for organization of the clusters and we outline its main disadvantages. Later we present an approach for balanced consumption of the energy by the sensor motes, and then we propose a modification to this approach. In the next section we present and analyze the results of a series of simulation experiments, which we have conducted with the proposed approach, and then we compare these results with the ones obtained from the simulation experiments, which are conducted with the other presented approaches.

Prolonging the Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks by Hierarchical Organization of the System in Clusters with Unequal Sizes

Plamen Z. Zahariev, Georgi V. Hristov, Ivanka D. Tsvetkova

Abstract

Wireless sensor networks are a new type of telecommunication networks with many areas of implementation. These systems are known for their many advantages and few disadvantages. This paper investigates one of the biggest problems in this research field – the unequal energy dissipation and the unequal lifetime of the sensor motes. In order to solve this problem, first the standard approach for hierarchical organization of the networks is analyzed and then a solution for solving of this problem is proposed. Simulation models of wireless sensor networks are created using MatLAB, and the results of the evaluation of the new approach are compared to the results obtained by the standard one.
