황순원의 대표 단편이자 우리 소설사 정전 가운데 하나인 「소나기」의 원본 시비를 마무리 지었다. 아울러 그 뒤 나온 주요 파생본의변개 양상까지 살폈다. 「소나기」는 1952년 10월 무렵 창작을 끝낸 뒤 초본이광주에서 나온 문예지 『신문학』 4호(1953. 5)에 「소나기」로 처음 실렸다. 그 뒤『협동』 추계호(1953. 11)에 「소녀」로 재발표되었다. 이어서 소설집 『학』(1956.
12)에 「소나기」로 실려 오늘날까지 이어졌다. 따라서 『신문학』본 「소나기」는 첫창작본인 초본이자 첫 간행본인 원본임에 확실하다. 그런 사실을 글쓴이는 예정보다 훌쩍 늦어진 『신문학』의 출판 환경과 『학』에 이르는 텍스트 변개 과정의유사성을 따져 실증했다.
There are two purposes in this writing. Firstly, this writing aims to finishthe debates on original text of the Sonagi(소나기) which is not only the canonin our history of novel but also Hwang Sun Won's representative work. Secondly, the necessity of defimitive edition will be emphasized by examiningthe process of change shown in different version of the book published after1953. To do that, the text will be examined in detail. After written in October 1952, first version of the Sonagi was publishedas the Sonagi in forth volume of Sinmunhak(신문학, 1953. 5) published inGwangju. Then, it was republished as Soyeo(소녀) in the fall volume ofHyupdong(협동)(1953. 11). Finally, the novel was published as the Sonagi inHak(학, 1956. 12) and has passed down up to this day. Definitely, originaltextn of the novel is the Sonagi in Sinmunhak. The fact can be deduced fromdelayed publication circumstance of Sinmunhak and change process of theSonagi from original version to the version in the hak. Although it is not an full modification, the Sonagi was changed considerablyduring publication of derivatives after original version. It was determined bydividing the novel monthly and using four methods of switching, addition,subtraction and plural modification. From original text in Sinmunhak to MoonjiPublishing text 1981, from 63.12% to 76,81% sentences were modified amongtotal 358 unit sentences. Very high level of text fluidity was confirmed. Thereare streams of modification to national standard language rather than writer'sindividual language and to strengthen reality. So it is difficult to determineoriginal text of the Sonagi that contains writer's intention fully. Commonsensically, the edition in Moonji Publishing Co lastly publishedwhile Hwang Sun Won lives may be the complete works. But this is hard toaccept because aspect of modifications of the Sonagi were continued in very complicated way both quantitatively and qualitatively. Therefore, researchersemphasize the necessity of defimitive edition of the Sonagi not only forprecise academic research but also for public appreciation. All the text lies between correct reading and misreading. Academic societymisreads insisting correct reading while common readers correctly readworrying misreaing.In this sense, determination of defimitive edition isessential. Furthermore, Hwang Sun Won modified his work a lot. Therefore,both of efforts to defimitive edition and Textual criticism across Hwang SunWon‘s works is required.
