초록

This article outlines the background and the development, in brief, of the different schools of historiography, which are prevalent in the history writing of Modern India. The article points out the similarities and unique features of major historiographical schools i.e., Colonial, Nationalist and Post‐Colonial school of thoughts. One of the aim of the article was to see the transformation in the approaches of history writing of India in late twentieth century.
