신자유주의 경제 질서의 대안으로 제시되고 있는 사회적 협동조합을 기독교 윤리적 관점에서 고찰하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 먼저 사회적 협동조합이 기반하고 있는 공익성과 사회적 가치추구를 사회적 경제와 사회적 자본에 연관하여 고찰하고자 한다. 그리고 사회적 협동조합의 장점과 더불어 현실적으로 갖고 있는 한계들을 살펴보면서 이를 극복할 수 있는 방안들을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 통해 호혜와 연대에 기초한 이상적인 공동체 건설의 기초를 놓고자 한다. 사회적 협동조합은 공존과 상생의 생명가치를 보존하고자 설립된 경제 조직이다. 사회적 협동조합은 공공의 이익을 목적으로 한다는 점에서 이타주의에 기초하고 있으며, 공동체의 연대와 통합을 우선적 가치로 삼는다. 사회적 협동조합은 지역주민들의 권익과 복리 증진에 관련된 사업을 수행하거나 노인이나 장애인과 같은 취약 계층에게 사회 서비스 또는 일자리를 제공하지만 영리를 목적으로 하지 않는다. 사회적 협동조합이 추구하는 가치는 기독교 정신과 깊이 연관성이 있다. 사회적 약자에 대한 보호와 배려는 사랑과 정의의 공동체가 지녀야 할 기본적인 책무이며, 이는 평등과 자발적인 나눔과 섬김의 이상적인 모범을 보여준 초대교회 공동체가 이루고자 했던 이상이다. 그러므로 사회적 협동조합은 신뢰와 호혜의 정신을 바탕으로 약자들에게 힘을 주고 궁핍한 자들을 돕는 돌봄의 경제를 실현하는 효과적인 방법이다. 만성화되어 가고 있는 저성장과 실업문제 그리고 빈곤과 양극화, 고령화라는 사회적 문제해결을 위해 사회적 협동조합은 사회적 약자들과 연대하며 박애의 정신을 확장하는 새로운 흐름을 만드는 계기가 된다. 교회는 열정과 헌신, 이웃에 대한 사랑으로 충만한 사람들의 공동체로서 사회적 협동조합을 적극 지원하는 전초기지가 되어야 한다. 그런 점에서 사회적 협동 조합운동은 글로벌 시대 속에서 새로운 도전에 직면한 우리 사회에 대한 교회의 실천적인 응답이 될 수 있을 것이다.

This research studies on the social cooperative which is the alternative economic order of neoliberalism from a perspective of Christian ethics. First, this study delves into the publicness and the pursuit of social value of social cooperatives based on social economy and social capital. Exploring the advantage and limits of social cooperatives, it seeks the solution of it`s limits. The social cooperatives is an economical organization to preserve coexistence and the value of life. The social cooperatives is based on altruism because its purpose is to serve public interest. The social cooperatives exist to provide social services such as the care of elderly and disabled people, and the integration of unemployed people into the workforce. The value of social cooperatives is related to the value of Christianity as such that providing protection and care for the poor and weak in the society is a basic obligation of loving and just community. Therefore, social cooperatives is an effective method that realizes the economy of care, providing strength to the weak based on the spirit of reciprocity of trust. Also, it is a solution to various problems of low growth and unemployment, poverty and polarization of our society. Hence, the church must be an advance base of social cooperatives as a community of enthusiasm, commitment and altruism for the others.
