The state of the liver in congenital heart diseases in children

The article discusses the state of the liver in children with congenital heart diseases and chronic heart failure. The examination included 35 children. Congenital heart anomalies were represented by ventricular septal defect – in 28.5% of patients, secondary artial septal defect – in 22.8% of children, double outlet right ventricle – in 17.1% of patients, atrioventricular canal defect – in 14.3% of children, tetralogy of Fallot – in 8.6% of patients, etc. Combined congenital heart defects were diagnosed in 17.1% of children. Hepatosplenomegaly without impaired liver function was found in 74.3% of patients. In all cases, liver enlargement was associated with hemodynamic disorders and passive hepatic congestion.
