초록

본 연구는 감정이 정치참여에 미치는 영향력에 주목한다. 이를 통해 ‘정치’라는 영역 안에서 나타나는 ‘감정’의 역할을 새롭게 규명하고자 한다. 무엇보다 일상의 시기에서 시민이 정치에 대해 느끼는 부정감정이 정치참여에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 정치참여 예측 모형을 [인지 모형], [감정 모형], [인지X감정 모형]으로 구분하고 크게 두 가지 문제를 밝히는 데 중점을 두었다. 첫째, 부정감정이 다양한 정치참여 유형에 미치는 영향력을 분석한다. 먼저 [감정 모형]을 통해 부정감정이 정치참여에 미치는 독립적인 효과를 살펴본다. 다음으로 [인지X감정 모형]을 통해 부정감정이 기존의 인지적 요인들과 상호작용하면서 정치참여에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴본다. 둘째, 부정감정을 구성하고 있는 개별 감정 -분노와 불안- 이 정치참여에 미치는 차별적 효과를 분석한다. 이 부분에서는 분노와 불안 감정의 조절효과의 크기를 비교할 것이다. 결과적으로 본 연구에서 부정감정은 내적효능감이나 정당지지 요인과 상호작용하면서 모든 유형의 정치참여를 증가시키는 효과를 발휘하였다. 이러한 힘은 불안보다도 분노의 감정에서 강하게 나타났는데, 정치참여를 예측하는 내적효능감과 정당지지의 영향력은 불안 집단보다 분노 집단에서 더욱 큰 것으로 확인되었다.
