본고는 해방 후 한국에서 일어난 테니스의 문화접변을 분석하였다. 테니스의 문화접변은 연식정구에서 경식정구(테니스)로 변화했는데 구체적인 접변과정은 아래와 같다.
구평형은 식민지 조선에 정착한 연식정구이다. 연식정구는 일부 재조일본인과 조선인에 의해 주로 일본과 조선 등에서만 행해지는 국내적인 스포츠였다. 1945년 해방 직후부터 국제대회 참가와 일제 잔재 청산의 필요성으로 인해 부분적인 해체가 시작되면서 연식정구는 동요했다.
부분적인 해체를 피하기 위해 외래문화요소로서 경식정구가 미국으로부터 한국에 전파･제시되어 1950년대 중반 일단 수용되었다. 새롭게 수용된 테니스는 약한 국제경쟁력에 대한 비판, ｢전향｣에 대한 반발 등의 본격적인 저항에 직면했다.
저항을 극복하기 위해 활발한 국제무대 진출과 거기에서의 좋은 성과, 국산볼의 개발과 보급 등이 이루어지면서 테니스라는 문화요소의 의미가 재해석되었다. 1970년대 중반에 이르러 테니스는 다수의 선수층과 일반 동호인들을 전국적으로 확보하고 국내대회는 물론 국제대회에 참가하는 국제적인 스포츠로 재구성되어 신평형을 이루며 정착하였다.

This article analyzes the acculturation of tennis in Korea after liberation. The acculturation of tennis changed from soft tennis to lawn tennis and the specific process was as follows.
The old equilibrium was soft tennis that was settled in colonial Korea under Japanese Imperialism, and soft tennis was a domestic sport mainly played in Japan and colonial Korea by some Japanese resided in Korea and Koreans. Shortly after liberation in 1945 the partial decline began due to the need to participation in international conventions and liquidation of remnants of Japanese imperialism.
In order to stop the partial decline, the lawn tennis was spread and presented as an element of foreign culture from the United States and it was accepted in the mid-1950s. The accepted lawn tennis faced fullfledged resistance with criticism of weak international competitiveness, opposition to conversion, etc.
To overcome the resistance, active international stage advancement, good performance there, development and dissemination of domestic balls were achieved, which is a reinterpretation of the meaning of the cultural element of tennis. By the mid-1970s, tennis was restructured and became the new equilibrium into an international sport that secured a large number of athletes and general hobbyists nationwide and participated in international competitions as well as domestic competitions.
