Abstract:
Current atmospheric CO2 concentration is approximately 340-350 ppm.
CO2 concentration in the greenhouse reaches a maximum level in the early morning and begins to decrease as a function of ventilation rate to a minimum level at noon, depending on photosynthesis rate.
In this research, the aim was to determine the effects of CO2 enrichment on the yield of eggplant, pepper, cucumber and melon.
To sustain CO2 concentration on the yield of eggplant, 1000 ppm, liquid CO2 in 25 kg cylinders was used.
CO2 treatment increased early yield in eggplant and cucumber, while in pepper it increased early and total yield.
No significant difference between the CO2 treatment and the control group was found in melon.
