Objective Quantitative study of fluxes, transport, behavior and fate of cadmium from the Gironde River on the Southern Biscay continental shelf and its potential consequences in the Marennes-Oléron shellfish farming area. The more specific objective of this cruise was to test the hypothesis under which primary production is sufficiently low in winter for the cadmium input by the Gironde to the continental shelf shows almost conservative behavior. This falls under the PNOC project.
