Objective | The RESOMER cruises aimed to collect the different links in hake's food chain (not including fish): phytoplankton, sedimented organic matter, zooplankton, sedimentary endofauna and suprabenthic fauna. The analyses conducted following this survey will determine 1) the source of the organic matter the hake food web is based on, 2) the path of this organic matter along the food chain, and 3) the level of chemical contamination in the different links. Density and biomass assessments of the various faunal categories involved were also conducted. The RESOMER cruises fall under the national coastal ecology program PNEC - Northwestern Mediterranean work site and the Integrated Mediterranean program (PIM - hake food chain). Two working sectors were considered (see attached map), with 2 stations sampled per sector. Sète sector: Station 39 (Latitude: 4312.17, Longitude: 332.29, Depth: 36) and Station 42 (Latitude: 4258.78, Longitude: 353.01, Depth: 88). Rhone sector: Station 19 (Latitude: 4319.49, Longitude: 432.11, Depth: 30) and Station 17 (Latitude: 4310.75, Longitude: 445.87, Depth: 92). |
