Objective

The objective of the clam stock assessment survey in the Arcachon Bay is to estimate the stock of Manila clams over its entire distribution area and to describe its main characteristics based on the monitoring of standardized indicators (proportion of different species, average abundance indices in number and weight per m², total abundance and biomass, fraction of juveniles and spawners, exploitable biomass, etc.). This campaign was co-organized with the CDPMEM33 and CRPMEM NA (professional organizations), with financial support from FEP fundings, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, The General Council of Gironde, the CDPMEM33 and Ifremer. It took place over 15 days spread over 2 periods (corresponding to 22 trips). The samples were collected from 544 sampling stations distributed over an area of 52 km² (16 reference strata + 2 additional strata), with an Hamon grab, using a stratified random sampling.
