Objective The objective is to describe the nature and complexity of the seafloor and the structure, composition and distribution of benthic invertebrates in marine protected areas located on the continental shelf of metropolitan France by using samples collected by underwater video sled. Video acquisition is based on deploying a device developed by the Boulogne-sur-mer test tank. The device is a sled whose hydrodynamic properties must make it simple to deploy and which can carry a video camera or still camera positioned to optimize the view plan (Fig. 2). Initially, this cruise's objective was to test the deployment of the sled and the video acquisition system by modifying the tow point of the device, the length of cable paid out (trial with a Dyneema® rope and the trawl warp) and the settings of the video camera and the lighting (orientation). All the tests were performed in Natura 2000 habitat zones or in the marine park of the Picardy estuaries and the Opal sea.
