A Survey on Intrabody Communication Modeling Methods

Wireless body area network (WBAN) provides energy-efficient data transfer between wearable devices. Traditional WBAN consists of large and high-power consumption devices. Intrabody communication (IBC) is one of the technologies used by WBAN. IBC transmits data within the human body, consisting of different tissues. When developing devices for WBAN, modeling is necessary due to the signal transmission within complex layer structures. In this paper, a comprehensive IBC modeling overview has been introduced. Our investigation collected, classified and evaluated modeling methods for various body tissues. The WBAN development and modeling problems, and the main requirements for their design are considered.
