Abstract

The new combinationAdelia cinerea (basionym:Bernardia cinerea) is made. Notes on its distribution and ecology are provided, as well as a full morphological description. A discussion on the morphological and palynological distinctions betweenAdelia andBernardia, and reasons for the transfer, are presented. The placement of this species inAdelia implies a tribal change (from Bernardieae to Adelieae) within subfamily Acalyphoideae. It brings the number of Mexican species ofAdelia to six.
